The Kryptonite New York 1217 is a long security chain for e-bikes that are parked at the same spot every day. At 170 cm it is long enough to pass through a frame and both wheels and still reach a ground anchor or thick post. It is sold under the Fahgettaboudit name in the title and closes with an Evolution Series 4 disc lock. It suits home and workplace use far more than carrying.

Our take
What is in the listing
The model name gives the key facts: a 12 mm chain, 170 cm long, with an EVS4 disc lock using a 14 mm shackle. Special features listed are cut resistance, anti-drill protection and anti-corrosion treatment. The material is given as alloy steel in the bullets and stainless steel in the specification table, so the exact steel type is unclear.
The title also mentions use on motorcycles and scooters as well as e-bikes.
Weight and handling
The item weight is 5.96 kg, and the package weight is a little over 6 kg. That rules out carrying it on most rides. Leave it locked to an anchor in a garage or shed, or around a fixed rail at work, and bring a lighter lock for days out.
Long chains can pile on the ground. Loop it tightly so as little as possible touches the floor.
Rating and warranty
This listing does not show a Sold Secure rating, which is a gap if your insurance names a specific grade. It does state a two-year manufacturer warranty. No key replacement scheme is mentioned here, though Kryptonite runs one on other locks.
Against the ABUS Granit Extreme Plus 59
The ABUS chain shares the same 12 mm thickness and 170 cm length at a slightly lower weight, and its listing states a Sold Secure powered cycle Gold award, plus a textile sleeve and keyhole cover. For buyers who need a stated rating, the ABUS has the advantage. The Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit 1410 set offers thicker 14 mm links and a Gold U-lock, though only 100 cm of chain.
Riders who want one chain to cover a garage anchor and occasional trips will find the 1217 too heavy for the second job. It is best treated as a fixture.
Verdict
The New York 1217 suits riders who want a long Kryptonite chain to anchor an e-bike at home and do not need a listed Sold Secure grade. If insurance requires one, the ABUS Granit Extreme Plus 59 is the like-for-like choice, and the Fahgettaboudit 1410 set adds a second lock.
