The Thule EasyFold XT 2B is aimed at owners of two heavy e-bikes who also need to put the carrier away between trips. Its stand-out detail is simple but rare: Thule states a 30 kg limit for each bike as well as the 60 kg total, so you know a single heavy e-MTB will not overload one wheel tray. The folding frame shrinks to a depth of 31 cm, small enough to live in a boot or under a shelf.

In its favour

  • The only listing here that states a per-bike limit: 30 kg, enough for most heavy e-bikes.
  • Folds from 123 x 63 x 68 cm down to 31 x 63 x 68 cm for storage.
  • Marked suitable for e-bikes, with 22 cm between the bikes to limit contact.

Good to know

  • Not suitable for vehicles with a deep tailgate, such as a VW T6 or Mercedes Viano.
  • This listing does not say whether it tilts for boot access with bikes loaded.

Our take

Load ratings and what they cover

Thule lists a maximum of two bikes, up to 30 kg each, with a combined ceiling of 60 kg. That covers most commuter and trekking e-bikes with their batteries in place, and many full suspension e-MTBs. If your bikes are near the limit, removing the batteries gives a useful margin.

The carrier itself weighs 17.9 kg according to the specs. Add that to the bikes and compare the total with the nose weight in your car handbook, because the towbar has to take all of it.

Folding, storage and the 13-pin plug

In use the carrier measures 123 by 63 by 68 cm. Folded, the length drops to 31 cm while the other two dimensions stay the same. That is the main reason to pick an EasyFold over a fixed platform: it can travel in the boot on the way to collect a bike, and it does not need a garage wall.

The 13-pin plug connects the carrier lights to the car. If your towbar socket is the older 7-pin type you will need an adapter, which the listing does not mention.

Vehicle fit and spacing

Thule names the vehicles it does not suit: those with a deep tailgate, such as the VW T6 or Mercedes Viano. Van and people carrier owners should check fit before ordering. The listing marks it for cars, SUVs and minivans otherwise.

There is 22 cm between the two bikes. That is a little less than the 23 cm Atera quotes on its Strada E-Bike M, so wide handlebars may need turning or padding to stop them touching.

How it compares

Against the Westfalia BC 60, the Thule gives you the firm per-bike number that Westfalia leaves out, while the Westfalia listing is clearer about tyre width and frame size limits and folds down for boot access. The Atera Strada E-Bike M is about 3 kg lighter to lift but does not say it folds flat for storage.

Verdict

Choose the EasyFold XT 2B if you carry two heavy e-bikes and want stated per-bike limits plus compact storage. If you need confirmed boot access with bikes loaded, the Westfalia BC 60 states it clearly, and if lifting weight matters most, look at the lighter Atera Strada E-Bike M.
