This SDTYYP battery is aimed at a specific group: owners of e-bikes that carry the battery in the rear rack, particularly models from Mifa, Rehberg, Zündapp and Ansmann. Down tube packs cannot help these riders, so a pack that names those systems is useful. The listing also covers a 48 V 10.5 Ah option, but the version in our guide is the 36 V 14 Ah.

Our take

What the listing states

The pack is described as suitable for 36 V and 48 V motors of 250 W, 350 W and 500 W, with a 20 A BMS. The 36 V version charges from a 42 V 2 A charger. The bullet text mistakenly gives the continuous current as 20V, but the BMS heading confirms 20 A.

At 36 V and 14 Ah, the stored energy works out at about 504 watt hours.

Cells, BMS and certification

SDTYYP describes A+ first-class original cells and an intelligent BMS that prevents overcharge, deep discharge, overcurrent and short circuits. A power indicator is fitted, and the listing advises recharging once only the last red light remains.

CE, RoHS and UN38.3 certification is stated, with capacity and short circuit testing before the batteries leave the factory. You are asked to charge it fully on arrival.

Size and fitting checks

The size is given as 317, 150, 56, 125 and 45 mm in one string. These seem to describe the length and several widths and heights of a shaped rack battery, but the listing does not label them. Measure your old battery in the same places and compare before ordering.

The listing does not say which discharge connector is used, nor does it give a weight or warranty length. Ask the seller to confirm the plug matches your rack's contacts.

Who should look elsewhere

If your battery sits on the down tube, this pack will not fit. Owners of Hailong mounts should look at the X-go or SZHKDC Hailong packs, which include base plates. Bikes with Silverfish frames need the SDTYYP XH370-10J instead.

Riders with Bosch, Shimano or Yamaha systems should also look elsewhere, as those use proprietary communicating batteries.

Verdict

This rear rack battery is the one to consider if your Mifa, Rehberg, Zündapp or Ansmann e-bike carries its pack in the rack. Check the connector with the seller first. For Silverfish frames, the SDTYYP XH370-10J is the closer match, and for down tubes the X-go Hailong.
