The SCOUT E-Scout 24+ is an electric tricycle for adults who want the stability of three wheels, such as riders returning to cycling, those with balance concerns or anyone carrying shopping on local roads. It folds for storage and lists a 200 kg maximum load. For a trike, the most practical extra is a pair of brake levers with parking brakes, which stop it rolling away while you get on or load it.

In its favour
- The listing states 250 W with 15.5 mph (25 km/h) assistance and a 6 km/h walk mode.
- Brake levers with parking brakes and front and rear discs are listed.
- 200 kg maximum load and a free weather cover are included.
Good to know
- Folded size, weight and battery voltage are all missing from the listing.
- A trike is wide even when folded, so it will not suit trains.
Our take
Motor, battery and range
SCOUT lists a 250 W motor with assistance up to 15.5 mph, or 25 km/h, and a cruise or walk function at 3 mph. The detachable battery is described as 14 Ah and can be charged indoors, with a claimed 40 miles or 60 km using assist. The voltage is not given, and the specification table's 14 milliampere hour figure is clearly an error, so ask the seller for the full battery rating.
Controls and display
A 2.4 inch TFT IPS display tracks speed, distance and battery level. Gearing is 6-speed with a thumb shifter and rear derailleur. Front and rear disc brakes are fitted, and the handlebars are adjustable. Minimum rider height is listed at 152 cm.
A bell, lock, mudguards and charger are included, and SCOUT adds a free weather cover, useful if the trike lives outdoors.
Folding and storage
The frame folds, but the listing gives no folded dimensions and no weight. A trike is wide by nature, so even folded it will need a garage, shed or large hallway rather than a train luggage rack. Measure your storage space and doorways and ask SCOUT for figures before buying.
Riding a trike
Three wheels mean no balancing at low speed, which many riders find reassuring. Cornering is different from a bicycle, though, because a trike does not lean, so take bends slowly until you are used to it. On cambered roads it tends to drift towards the kerb.
SCOUT or MOONCOOL
The MOONCOOL trike is the obvious comparison. It has a rear differential, hydraulic brakes, a larger 36 V 20 Ah battery with a claimed 128 km and a 204 kg limit, but fatter 20 inch wheels. The SCOUT offers larger 24 inch wheels and six gears. Neither states weight or folded size.
Verdict
The E-Scout 24+ suits riders who want a folding three-wheeler with gears, parking brakes and a weather cover. If longer range and hydraulic brakes are more important, the MOONCOOL trike is the alternative. Riders who need to carry a folder on trains should look at the FabricBike Volt.
