The Burley Encore X suits households where the trailer has more than one job. On weekdays it carries two children, and once they outgrow it or are at school, the seat comes out and the same frame hauls shopping or a dog. That removable seat, combined with a low 10.9 kg weight for a two-seater, is what separates it from the other child trailers in our guide.

Our take
What the listing promises
Burley describes suspension that smooths out bumps for passengers, padded seats and a 2-in-1 design with a 1-wheel stroller kit in the box. The included parts are the trailer, tow bar with steel hitch, two wheels, two wheel guards, a safety flag and the manual.
The seat is detachable, which is the key feature. With it removed the cabin becomes a covered cargo area, useful for a big supermarket shop or for a pet that would rather not run alongside.
Specifications that matter
Maximum load is 100 lb, about 45 kg, and the maximum passenger height is 48 inches, roughly 122 cm. The aluminium frame weighs 10.9 kg, lighter than the Thule and Hamax two-seaters. External dimensions are 84.5 by 78.7 by 94 cm, so check doorways before buying.
Burley also says the Encore X is compatible with its full range of kits, covering strolling, jogging and skiing. Only the stroller kit is included; the others are extras.
Hitching it to an e-bike
This is where the listing goes quiet. There is no mention of e-bikes, thru-axles or hub motors. Many e-bikes use one of those, so ask Burley or a bike shop which hitch fits before ordering. The sister Honey Bee is the Burley that carries explicit e-bike wording.
The warranty follows the usual Burley pattern: three years on frame and plastic parts, one year on fabric.
Who it is not for
If you only need a basic bike trailer and never plan to walk with it, the stroller kit and suspension add complexity you may not use. Riders who must have written e-bike compatibility from the maker should look at the Honey Bee instead.
Buyers who need a reclining seat for long naps will also find no recline mentioned here, whereas Thule and Hamax both describe one.
Verdict
The Encore X is the pick for families who want a light two-seater with suspension and the option to repurpose it for cargo later. Choose the Burley Honey Bee if you want the maker's e-bike friendly label, or the Thule Chariot Cross 2 G3 for more adjustable seating.
