The Burley Bee is for riders who just want to tow a child behind the bike and have no use for a stroller conversion. Stripping out the pushchair parts keeps the weight down to 9.8 kg, the lowest of any child trailer in our guide, and the frame folds flat with wheels that pop off at the press of a button. Simple, light and easy to store is the whole idea.

Our take

A bike-only design

Burley states plainly that the Bee is a bike-only trailer. There is no stroller wheel and no kit system mentioned, so once you unhitch it at the park you carry or park it rather than push it. For many riders that is fine, and it removes parts that can rattle or need adjusting.

The box contains the trailer, a tow bar with hitch, two wheels, two wheel guards, a safety flag and the manual.

Seat, harness and ride

The seat is a hammock style that Burley says gives gentle suspension, rather than a separate spring or damper. It is paired with the brand's adjustable one-click 5-point harness.

There is a mismatch worth flagging: the listing describes the Bee as a kids trailer but the specification table gives seating capacity as 1. The headline and bullets do not mention a second seat, so treat it as a single-child trailer unless Burley confirms otherwise.

Weight, wheels and storage

With a 9.8 kg aluminium frame and a 40 kg maximum load, it is easy to lift over kerbs or into a car. The 20 inch push-button wheels come off quickly, and the compact fold lets it lie flat against a wall or slide under a bed. Listed dimensions are 95.5 by 26 by 55.5 cm, which appear to describe the folded size.

Frame and plastic parts carry three years of manufacturer warranty, fabric one year.

E-bike fit and the alternatives

The listing does not cover thru-axle or hub motor hitching, so check with Burley before buying for an e-bike. The Burley Honey Bee costs you about 1.8 kg more but adds a stroller kit and an explicit e-bike friendly label. The Encore X adds proper suspension and a removable seat.

Verdict

Pick the Burley Bee if you only tow, want the lightest child trailer here and need it to fold flat. Parents who also want to walk with the trailer should choose the Burley Honey Bee, and those after suspension and a cargo option should look at the Burley Encore X.
