The Thule Chariot Cross 2 G3 is for families who expect to use a trailer a lot, on rough paths as well as tarmac, and who want the seating to adapt as children grow. Its standout feature is the modular cabin: Thule says one child can sit in the middle or two can sit side by side, and the suspension can be tuned to match the load. It is the most adjustable child trailer in our comparison, though also the heaviest but one.

Our take
Seating and comfort features
According to the listing, the seats are fully padded and recline with one hand, so a sleeping toddler can be laid back without stopping for long. The harness type is given as a lap belt in the specification table, which differs from the 5-point harnesses Burley and Hamax list, so check the current product page if that matters to you.
Thule describes the suspension as adjustable, meant to be set softer or firmer as your child gets heavier or when you carry heavier items. On an e-bike, where assisted speeds are higher than many parents would pedal unaided, a tunable ride is a sensible feature.
FlipWing wheels and the hitch arm
The redesigned FlipWing system lets the wheels swing between bike and stroller positions, and Thule says this can now be done while the trailer is still attached to the bike. That saves a few awkward moments when you arrive somewhere and want to walk.
A new hitch arm is meant to clip on and off using only one hand. The listing does not say whether the hitch suits thru-axles or rear hub motors, which is common on e-bikes, so confirm the correct axle adapter with Thule or a dealer.
Weight and dimensions
Amazon gives a maximum load of 44 kg and a maximum child height of 112 cm. The trailer weighs 16.1 kg with an aluminium frame. The listed footprint is 88.9 cm long and 73.7 cm high, but the 33 cm width figure looks like a folded or packed measurement rather than the trailer in use, so measure your storage space with care.
That 16.1 kg is noticeable when lifting it into a car boot, even if the motor hides most of it on the road.
Against the Hamax Outback and Burley Encore X
The Hamax Outback also offers reclining seats and adjustable suspension, but it weighs 17 kg and has a lower 40 kg load limit. The Burley Encore X is far lighter at 10.9 kg with suspension and a removable seat, though its recline and wheel-flip features are not described. The Thule wins on adjustability, not on weight.
Verdict
Buy the Chariot Cross 2 G3 if you want the most adjustable cabin and suspension here and will use it often enough to justify the bulk. If lifting weight matters, the Burley Encore X is much lighter, and the Hamax Outback is the other reclining option to compare.
