The SAMEBIKE RS-A01MEN is a 27.5 inch electric mountain bike aimed at commuters and weekend riders who want a large battery without paying for premium components. Its standout figure is a 540 Wh pack, with a maker's claim of 90 to 120 km per charge on UK roads. SAMEBIKE also states the motor torque, 50 Nm, which several rivals leave out, and fits lights and a USB port as standard.

In its favour

  • A 540 Wh battery with a claimed 90 to 120 km range, among the largest in this group.
  • The listing states 250 W, 50 Nm and the 15.5 mph UK legal limit.
  • Brake-activated rear light, 3 W front light and a USB port are included.

Good to know

  • Brakes are mechanical rather than hydraulic, so expect more cable adjustment.
  • At 29 kg it is heavy, and the listing says the rear is a hardtail despite a dual-suspension title.

Our take

Battery and range claims

SAMEBIKE says the 540 Wh battery outlasts standard 36 V 15 Ah packs, charges fully in five to six hours and uses a BMS rated for over 800 charge cycles. The 90 to 120 km claim is generous for this capacity; hills, headwinds, cold weather and higher assist levels will all reduce it. Treat the upper figure as best case on flat roads in a low mode.

Motor and legal limits

The motor is rated at 250 W and 50 Nm, and the listing states it keeps to the 15.5 mph UK legal limit. SAMEBIKE claims it handles 15% inclines and engages smoothly rather than surging, which helps in stop-start traffic.

Suspension, brakes and what the title gets wrong

The title mentions dual suspension, but the bullets clarify that it is a hardtail with no rear shock. Comfort comes from a 95 mm front fork and a cushioned seatpost, along with 27.5 by 2.1 inch puncture-resistant tyres.

Braking is by 160 mm mechanical disc brakes front and rear. Cable discs are simple to fix at the roadside but need periodic adjustment as pads wear, more so on a 29 kg bike. Riders who descend steep hills often may prefer hydraulics.

Lights, display and setup

The safety package includes a 3 W integrated LED headlight powered by the main battery, a brake-activated rear light and reflectors on wheels and pedals. The 3.5 inch colour LCD is rated IP54 and shows speed, trip distance, battery percentage and assist level from 0 to 5, with a USB port for a phone.

The bike arrives 85% pre-assembled with tools and a pedal wrench, and carries a 12-month warranty. A UKCA certification claim is also made in the listing.

Compared with its neighbours

The Carpat GB1 has the hydraulic brakes and stated EN 15194 certification that this SAMEBIKE lacks, but only a 374.4 Wh battery. The SAMEBIKE XD26-II offers a bigger 672 Wh pack, hydraulic brakes and true dual suspension on fat tyres, at the same 29 kg.

Verdict

The RS-A01MEN suits riders who want a big battery, stated torque and built-in lights on a conventional hardtail, and who are happy to adjust cable brakes. For hydraulic brakes and certified compliance choose the Carpat GB1, and for more range and full suspension the SAMEBIKE XD26-II.
