The Aairsk SU7 is a step-through e-bike on 24 inch wheels, which puts it between a compact 20 inch bike and a full-size city bike. It suits riders from 5 ft to 6 ft 1 who want an easy frame to step through, a rack for shopping and a little suspension for rough roads. The card key that locks the display is an unusual touch.

In its favour

  • The maker gives a clear rider range of 5 ft 0 to 6 ft 1, which few listings state.
  • A rear rack takes a basket, panniers or a child seat according to the listing.
  • The card key locks and unlocks the display, a small extra deterrent when parked.

Good to know

  • Brakes are mechanical discs, and the frame is carbon steel rather than aluminium.
  • The listing describes a pure electric mode; check how it is set up before riding on UK public roads.

Our take

Motor and battery

Aairsk fits a 250 W brushless motor with 45 Nm of torque and describes it as very quiet. Assistance runs up to 25 km/h. The removable 36 V 13 Ah battery is listed at 468 Wh, with about 75 km quoted in pedal assist mode and 30 to 40 km in pure electric mode.

That electric-only mode deserves a check before riding on public roads, since UK rules are built around pedal assistance.

Frame, fit and comfort

The frame is carbon steel and supports 150 kg according to the bullets. Aairsk gives a clear rider range of 5 ft 0 to 6 ft 1, helpful when buying online, and the listed weight is 26.5 kg.

Front suspension and a faux leather saddle soften bumps, and the 24 by 1.95 inch anti-slip tyres sit on double-layer rims. A 7-speed trigger shifter handles the gears.

Practical details

The rear rack accepts a basket, panniers or a child seat, the maker says, turning the bike into an errand runner. An LED headlight is fitted, and the LCD shows speed, battery, distance and incline.

To start the display you tap the card key on it, and the same card locks it again. It will not stop a thief carrying the bike away, but it does stop casual use. Brakes are mechanical discs, and assembly is required.

Next to other step-throughs

The CEAYA R8SE is shorter on 20 inch fat tyres and a little lighter at 25 kg, with a larger 48 V 15 Ah battery. The FabricBike E-Stepcity rides on bigger 27.5 inch wheels with mudguards and lights fitted, though it has a smaller 360 Wh battery.

Verdict

The SU7 suits shorter and mid-height riders who want a step-through with a rack, front suspension and a stated height range. If you want the most compact bike, the CEAYA R8SE is smaller, and if you prefer a fully equipped town bike on larger wheels, the FabricBike E-Stepcity is the better fit.
